Day 2 Arrival in Rome,
Italy . (Sun.) The day is
free to rest or start exploring the splendid Italian capital. Later
today join your Globus host for a welcome drink.
Day 3 Rome. (Mon.)
Sightseeing with your local guide starts with a visit to the
COLOSSEUM to hear about gladiatorial combats. Then stroll along the
Via Sacra in the ROMAN FORUM, where Roman Legions marched in
triumph. Proceed along the Tiber and enter Vatican City where you
visit the VATICAN MUSEUMS and SISTINE CHAPEL, world famous for
Michelangelo’s ceiling paintings and The Last Judgement,
ending up at ST. PETER’S SQUARE and BASILICA. (BB)
Days 4 to 7 At Leisure
in Rome. (Tue. to Fri.) Four more days to savor la dolce
vita and enjoy independent activities. Take a stroll along
beautiful Via Condotti and discover Rome’s hidden treasures at your
own pace. If you feel like traveling, join optional excursions to
Pompeii, the Roman city both destroyed and preserved by a volcanic
eruption in 79 A.D., to the excavations of Rome’s antique harbor
Ostia or to Frascati. Plenty of opportunity to try out local
specialties at Rome’s famous restaurants. (BB daily)
Day 8 (Sat.) Your
homebound flight arrives the same day. (BB)
