This marvelous archaeological site is located right in the middle of Yucatan´s jungle. Major buildings were not built until possibly the year 600 A.D. The most outstanding building is named The Castle or Kukulcán Pyramid, which is 75 ft. tall and was built over previous temples. An interior staircase leads to the Throne of the Red Jaguar. The Temple of the Warriors is a complex of many terraces, columns, carved pillars and courtyards. The Ball Court, 272 ft. long, where the Mayas played the popular Mesoamerica´s game.

Tulum is located about 81 miles south of Cancun and is the only walled city the Mayas ever built. When the spaniards arrived there, in 1518, it was larger than Seville. Its great preserved buildings were erected between the years 1200 to 1400 A.D. featuring: The Castle, also known as Temple of Kukulcán, the Temple of the Descending God and the Temple of the Fresh Paintings.

Xel-Ha was a major commercial port to the Mayas, who practiced that important activity that reached from the Gulf of Mexico to what it is, at the present time, Honduras. Nowadays it is a complex of four interlocking lagoons where swimming and snorkeling among colorful tropical fishes are superb.

Definitely one of the major attractions around Cancun, Xcaret is a large park that hosts a beautiful archaeological site, formerly an important place of ceremony to the Mayas, surrounded by vast vegetation, just by a quiet sea inlet of shallow waters. With underground rivers, dolphins, butterfly pavilion, wild bird breeding aviary, aquarium, turtle farm, among other attractions.

XCARET FULL DAY

Clients can remain inside the park to watch “XCARET by night” show without extra charge. This is an interesting play at different sceneries of: Mexican horse back “Escaramuza”, the mayan ball game, walk through the Maya village and folkloric ballet.

Departures from La Isla Shopping Mall and Moon Palace hotel to Coba for visiting the most important buildings of the archaeological site (bicycle ride). Walk through the jungle to the Cenote de la Vida to descend in rappel 65 ft. down to the underground river. Flora & fauna watching, continue to the Z-line, for crossing the Cenote at a height of 300 ft. Walk to the Chimuch cave to swim on its clear waters.  Kayaking through Laguna del Mono, to end at the mayan community of Tres Reyes and share lunch with local people, enjoying lunch based on traditional dishes, prepared by them.
