FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
| Q: Why did the passenger next to me on my last
business flight pay a lower fare than I ? A: Using sophisticated programs, airlines monitor and forecast seating demands on each flight, constantly adjusting the pricing and availability of seats to ensure that any given flight will be both as full and as profitable as possible. Other factors, which many travelers do not realize exist, impact the price of a flight, including variations in minimum stay requirements (such as a Saturday night), day of the week and advance purchase restrictions (7 days vs. 21). Even competitive situations may affect the fare charged for an individual seat. In addition, it is very important to realize that airlines now load fares into the reservation systems three times per day. This translates to literally hundreds of fare changes per day!! Quality International Tourss automated fare checking system reviews passenger records 24 hours per day looking to see if lower fares have become available. Q: Why are connecting flights sometimes less expensive than direct or non-stop flights? A: Airlines often offer lower fares to travelers willing to make flight connections at an intermediate point for their final destination. These flights can be an excellent travel value if you can spare the time required to make a connection. Q: Why didnt I receive my frequent flier miles even though I booked a flight on an airline with which I am a frequent flier member? A: In order to receive your frequent flier miles, the name printed on your ticket must exactly match the name used in your enrollment profile. Verify upon check-in that your account has been credited. If not, call the airline after your flight. They will request a copy of your boarding pass and receipt in order to credit your account with the appropriate miles. In addition, check with your travel counselor to ensure that all frequent flier membership numbers are on file with Quality International Tours, Inc. Q: In my profile I have indicated my seat preference as an aisle seat. Why is it that there are times when my preferred seat cant be reserved but when I get to the ticket counter or gate I am able to get my preferred seat? A: Airlines currently block approximately 40% of their preferred seats. These seats are held for "high level" frequent flier members. With airline load factors running at an all-time high, securing a preferred seat is an industry-wide concern. As a way to try and combat this problem, Quality International Tours utilizes two different methods of trying to secure preferred seating. The first is a highly skilled quality control person who checks the reservation record at the time of booking for preferred seating. Always inquire at the gate as to whether or not your seat preference has become available as the airlines do release the remainder of the blocked seats just prior to flight time. An airline can give away your seat if you do not check-in at least 10 minutes ahead of time for domestic flights. |

LISTEN TO THE RESERVATION RECAP Your travel counselor will recap your reservation by reading back each segment of your itinerary, including your travel dates, flights, airfare, ticket delivery information and any special requests. Please take the time to listen and make sure your travel arrangements are correct as requested CHECK YOUR TICKETS AND DOCUMENTS When your tickets and itinerary arrive, please review them to ensure that they accurately reflect your business travel needs. Double check any other documents you may need to bring with you at this time to be sure they are accurate and up-to-date. CONFIRM YOUR TRAVEL PLANS Obtain any hotel confirmations prior to your departure. Any international flights should be confirmed 72 hours before departure. In addition, international travelers should reconfirm ongoing and return reservations with the airlines at each destination. PREPARE FOR AIRPORT CHECK-IN Domestic and international flights now require a valid government issued photo ID as a security precaution. In general, check-in for domestic flights must be at least 60 minutes before departure; international flights require at least two hours. (Periods of high security may require even more time; check with your particular airline.) |
