It is a grocery store that has a little bit of everything. You will find many local
products and food items.
The Peatonal
The Peatonal without doubt is a great place in Tegucigalpa to people watch. Located
between the main post office and the Parque Central by the main Cathederal. Between 5-6 pm
you will notice a very strange phenomen in the Parque Central. A large group of crow type
birds start to arrive for the evening and begin to cackle. Alfred Hitchcock would have
really liked this place. In the evening the Peatonal is rumored to be less then safe.
Changing Money
In Teguciglapa the black market changers operate at both end the Peatonal. There has been
some efforts to rid the marketplace of these money changers, but they persist. In front of
the Hotel Plaza you will see some changers dirctly accross the hotel. One thing you might
do is to have them come over near the hotel to make the exchange where you may feel a
little safer. Also always try to keep your back to a wall. For the most part thee fellow
are quite nice and depending on quantity of money your changing you may negotiate a better
rate. Also, go to several of them and you may find them offering you better rates.
