Day 1: Arrival, transfer & overnight in Managua
Day 2: Managua city tour.
Observe the new and the old downtown destroyed in 1972 by an earthquake. Lunch. Later we
will travel to the Masaya Volcano National Park. See the crater just feet away. Transfer
to Granada. Overnight in Granada.
Day 3: Granada city tour, visiting the
Cathedral, the oldest Convent in America, walk through the plaza, go into the Casa de Los
Leones, view the Lake of Nicaragua, and later enjoy a boat ride through the 364 small
islands. Lunch. Visit the Mombacho Volcano Natural Reserve. You will be able to see from
high the city of Granada and Lake Nicaragua (the 10th largest lake in the world).
Overnight in Granada.
Day 4: Visit the Chocollero Natural
Reserve. You will be able to observe hundreds of bird species. Lunch. Later you will visit
many small towns where they still live with their old traditions and master the art of
crafts. You will see how they have done their wood furniture and more for hundreds of
years. Return to Managua. Overnight in Managua.
Day 5: Scenic route to the ruins of Leon
Viejo (UNESCO). Later visit Leon for a city tour. See the Cathedral and other colonial architecture. Overnight
in Leon.
Day 6: Depart to Hervideros de San Jacinto
(boiling Pools). Later you will be transferred to the Cloud Forest walking trails in
Matagalpa. Horseback riding, hiking and much more to do in Selva Negra. Overnight in Selva
Negra.
Day 7: Morning at leisure
(birdwatching, coffee process in season). Afternoon transfer to Managua. Overnight in
Managua.
Day 8: Ttransfer out.
